Dopo l'alba

Tadeu VILANI

In the south of Brazil, at sunrise, the descendants of Italians plow the land where they grow vines. Even today, in the most modern and richest region of the country, they lead a life close to that of their ancestors, who came at the end of the 19th century from Veneto, but also from Lombardy, Tuscany, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia. Thus we see them practicing traditional trades almost disappeared, playing dying, or praying in a makeshift chapel set in the middle of barrels of wine.

For twenty years now, the photographer Tadeu Vilani, himself an Italian gaúcho, has been touring these wine-growing regions in search of his roots and documenting them with talent.
